Light excursion for architects

Communication, orientation and information are the functions of relevance at the transition from the outside to the inside. Decisive for perfect interaction is a carefully considered use of light: In the right place, in the right amount and at the right time.

The impact of lighting in publicly accessible spaces formed the subject of a light excursion for architects; organized by Sabine Mahl, project advisor for Siedle in Bavaria. Christoph Matthias and Katrin Rohr from the bureau Lichtlauf guided participants through Munich at night; To familiar locations seen from a new perspective and with new questions to be tackled: What is the role played by lighting in our perception of a big city and its self-presentation? Are there any rules applying to obviously visible lighting? And who actually takes care of this on a daily basis?

"We want to create awareness of the functional significance of light", explains Sabine Mahl. "It is only with the right lighting that the functions of a building ideally come together".
